Just an FYI for those in the US with insurance issues
Important information! Insurance coverage decisions are made by medically ignorant bean-counters. Until we can dismantle the whole shitty system, know how to scare them into submission.
This is like that procedure Mr. Incredible told that old lady
Reblogging for visibility
[Image Description: Text: Medical Hack: So, your doctor ordered a test or treatment and your insurance company denied it. That is a typical cost saving method. Okay, here is what you do:
Call the insurance company and tell them you want to speak with the “HIPPA Compliance/Privacy Officer” (By federal law, they have to have one)
Then ask them for Names as well as Credentials of every person Accessing Your Record to make that decision of denial. By law you have a Right to that informantion.
They will almost always Reverse the Decision very shortly rather than admit that the committee is made of low paid H.S. Graduates, looking at all “criteria words,” making the decision to deny your care. Even in the rare case it is made by medical personel, it is unlikely that it is made by a board cerified doctor in that specialty and they Do Not Want You to Know This!
Any refusal should be reported to the U.S. Office of Civil Rights (OCR.gov) as a HIPPA violation. Description ends]
some people are taking “doomed” to mean “dead”. this is actually a misconception! you can be doomed even if you don’t die! it’s sometimes worse if you don’t die!
Sorry babes but as someone who lived lug around 500 cds they can die. To me lps are at least pretty and pretentious like a fine wine. Cds have no point
the point is cds are sexy as hell. sorry you dont know what sex is.
The real point is that you OWN a CD. You do NOT own anything digital you purchase.
Google Play stole hundreds of dollars worth of music I paid them for from me by forcing me to upload it to YouTube Music (or lose it entirely) which is behind a subscription paywall, requiring me now to pay more money every month if I want to listen to MY music I PAID for without constant advertising.
You do not own anything digitally purchased. It can be taken back from you at any time and it is fully legal for big corporations to do so for some reason.
CDs can’t be taken from you unless they come into your house or car in person to physically pry them out of your cold dead hands.
That’s why the resurgence. As funny as that person’s reply to you was, it’s not in fact because they look sexy. It’s because you actually own them.
Look- CDs are your friend. CD-ROMs and CD drives with the capacity to burn? Are your friends with benefits.
Can anyone teach me how to burn Digital only songs into CDs?
i can ask my dad!! i think you need a certain piece of hardware, but i dont think its difficult!
You ever think about how crows are acting not unlike how early humans probably did and you’re just like. Oh ok
I saw a Thing one time about how the earliest sign of civilization is a healed femur because that shows that we were taking care of each other because if we Didn’t a broken leg would mean you Die because you can’t. Do things
And I was thinking about this and I remembered also seeing an article about this one mated pair of crows where one of them broke its beak and thus couldn’t properly feed itself on its own. So the other one helps
So basically I have connected the two dots (“you didn’t connect shit”) I’ve connected them
And also they not only use tools but teach each other how to construct them, so uh
Really makes you think
Realistically I know immortality would kinda suck but I’d love to see where crows are going with this
Fun fact, there is little info on crows (as far as species of interest go) because they’re so good at evading human tactics for collection and observation. I had a friend who studied them in grad school. Not only do they describe humans to each other (so crows you’ve never seen before will avoid you), they also learn the precise distance of net cannons (for trapping and tagging) after 1 encounter and then stand at that distance the entire time (making naive researchers think maybe they can juuuust caych em). So basically you need to befriend them (a common strategy), or find a murder that’s never seen you before (researchers wear presidents masks to throw them off, but then they remember and describe the cars). In this case, you have one chance to collect enough in the group to get good data. Whatever crow you catch once, you probably will never catch again, ruling out biosensing devices (like they use with other birds and turtles n junk).
The latest big finding about crows is that they have a grasp of knowledge breadth, meaning they “know what they know” meaning they are conscious (self aware), have subjective experiences and can reflect on their knowledge. (Source) This also implies they have an understanding of the unknown.
Look up Andreas Nieder and Jon Marzluff’s work if you want the deep skinny.
having a husband who is a forensic science student who does nothing but study skeletons all day is ridiculous because we were in the middle of doing…adult….stuff….and he suddenly just grabbed my head and said “oh my god, you know you’ve got a healed skull fracture here?!” like WHAT do you MEAN I have a HEALED SKULL FRACTURE???
he told me my skull healed really weirdly and I probably have brain damage from it because there’s a fuckin crater in the back of my skull that I just thought was a normal thing everyone has. I should probably see a doctor
update on this: he keeps like grabbing random body parts and trying (and failing) to subtly look at me and im like STOP EXAMINING ME because he’s so fascinated by my fucked up skeletal structure. the other day we had Christmas drinks with my coworkers and he told me afterwards that someone in the group had a weird shaped skull and something about processes and i was like god can’t you just be normal and stop examining people
Can he examine me please, I have never been able to figure out whether the dents in my skull are Normal Skull Shape or not
Can i borrow him for a bit? there’s a dent in my skull too
Seem to be a lot of skull dents on Tumblr. Maybe that’s why we’re all Like This (by which I mean, we’re on Tumblr)
Hi yeah I think some people in the American education and political system should just spontaneously explode. Rolling to specifically curse Dr. Miguel Cardona of the DOE right now.
What in the fresh hell is this
They have a whole Wikipedia article dedicated to their violations of Title IX prior to this ruling.
