Where we live, a man can walk for days and always find a 7-11 and its redbox sitting out in front. There are tanning salons on every other block. It is not uncommon to find a quarter on the asphalt. They tell me that the winter season can really drag into spring so that spring is left with only a month or two of real honest to God springtime when it rains but it isn’t cold. The rainless season is a special time for people to walk hand-to-stroller when they go to the store. In their hearts I think everyone knows when they are going to be here for a while or move along to someplace else. When we talk it turns out that no one was born here, but they might like to die here, and so I’d like to tell Florida so there. It’s alright to love here because there’s no trying to be someone else. Trees fall down all the time and we hear the hell out of them.
