Proceeds are donated to the UNRWA, which is one of the major funding agencies providing aid to Palestine. Recently, the US and other major countries have escalated genocidal efforts by cutting funding from the UNRWA, as AlJazzera reports : Which countries have cut funding to the UNRWA and why?
This is a direct action you can take to say fuck you to the government directed genocidal efforts, bookmark the tab, add a calendar notification daily, do what you want. Or if your prefer: Donate Directly to UNRWA
the audio from the phone call w 6-year old hind who was trapped in a car with the bodies of her entire family is haunting me. the audio from her 15 year old sister who died after calling for help is haunting me. we still don’t know what happened to her or the medics who went to rescue her
Have you forgotten about Hind and her sister, whose desperate pleas we heard over the phone? Have you forgotten about the Paramedics who went to save them from the tank’s fires and never returned? Have you forgotten about our children who are dying, starving, and suffering from the cold every day? Because our children are still trapped in this inferno, we will not forget. Save our children and help them escape from this brutal war. From a hole in the sky, we rise and fall, but we will never die!
I know you have all probably seen the esims for gaza posts circulating. Some of you have probably looked at them and thought maybe you should help out, but have weighed up the daunting process of signing up for something you’re unfamiliar with vs. the gut-wrenching scale of the things people are going through on the ground right now, and you’ve put it off or questioned whether it will make enough of a difference vs. some other future kind of activism you could put that $6+ towards. I’m not calling you out or scolding you, it is natural to feel conflicted and ambivalent about the multiple calls for aid that you are seeing on social media.
but consider this: what would you do if you suddenly had to leave your home? how would you cope? how would you begin to plan where to go next, or figure out what to do to take care of yourself? most likely you would reach reflexively for your phone.
telecoms access is not a petty luxury in 2024. a loaded esim means the ability to call family members and find out where they are and whether they’re safe, and whether they need anything you can provide for them. it means access to maps and regular updates on the situation unfolding around you. it means you can look up whether it’s safe to drink rain water, or how to tie a type of knot you’ve never had to think about before, or how to treat an injury without medical supplies. it means the ability to tell people outside the situation what you are seeing, what you are feeling, what you are thinking. it is an absolutely crucial resource. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.
many many people have observed that internet access is changing the way the world understands genocide. internet access is life or death, and it is shaping modern history in front of you. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.
please, please visit gazaesims.com and spend 5 minutes and $6 to change the way this plays out for everyone.
this is a really critical material thing you can do for people right now, as palestinians including doctors, journalists, teachers and parents are in the midst of the longest telecoms blackout to date. phone and internet access in a humanitarian crisis is lifesaving.
Staff working inside Al-Shifa Hospital say the hospital has been under renewed siege by the IOF for 6 days. This is stated by journalists working in the area and people who live nearby as well.
Most doctors and surgical teams have evacuated, meaning that administering anything more than first aid is practically impossible. Most of the journalists have evacuated as well, meaning the media coverage is limited in Arabic-language sources and nonexistent in English-language sources.
The IOF are sniping displaced people inside the hospital, or shooting them from quadcopters. The dead and dying are scattered around the hospital, and staff cannot move or help them or they will be shot too. IOF bombing continues around the vicinity of the hospital as well, no one is able to enter or leave. Footage from the scene records that the shelling is constant.
The remaining staff continue working despite the danger, treating who they can despite having little electricity and being unable to move within range of windows. Patients are dying from treatable injuries because the hospital no longer has the capacity to help everyone.
One of our previous posts explains the PARTIAL withdrawal of IOF troops from SOME parts of north Gaza, and that post has earned over 7000 notes in about 3 days. This post, made only a day later, about the CONTINUATION of IOF troopsâ war crimes in north Gaza has stalled at less than 150 notes, receiving only about 10 hours of circulation. Please repost the linked content to your own blogs and/or reblog this post. For more info and links to share, check our âAl Shifa hospitalâ tag. We do not want people to hyperfocus on withdrawals of dubious significance while the IOF continues to commit atrocities in north Gaza and the wider Strip.
They list events by date, then alphabetically by country, then by city – and it’s common for them to have dozens of actions listed for a single date, especially on the weekends.
The United States especially often has 40+ events on a single day, especially on the weekends.
Events are posted with links to the event info posted by whoever’s hosting the vast majority of the time.
Look blow the read-more for a list of many of the countries that have been on this protest calendar, in alphabetical order, since I know so many websites/lists of actions are country-specific
*Obviously this isn’t the only good source of listings for protest events – there are many others. This is by far the biggest/most international roundup I’ve found, though, so I started with this. If you know another good place for finding ceasefire protests/events, please feel free to add it in the notes, bc I’m planning to put a bigger roundup together once I find enough other sites
*i regularly update this post with any new info i find so please always reblog the original post*
Donations
donations currently reaching gaza:
help buy e-sims for people in gaza(PLEASE HELP CONNECT GAZANS TO THE WORLD. if you would like to stay updated, please follow @/Mirna_elhelbawi on twitter)
one of the three palestinian students shot by a racist in vermont for wearing kufiyas and speaking arabic. hishamâs injuries have left him paralysed from below the chest.
NOTE: journalists based in gaza are saying a demand for ceasefire is the priority as not all donations are reaching gazans (focus on the donations that are directly reaching gaza). so please contact your local MPs every single day demanding as such. palestine need a permanent ceasefire.
note: you can call everyday. they tally the number of calls per issue. so more calls = higher chance for them to take action. p.s. you mainly go to voicemail so donât worry about phone call anxiety. fight through it just this once please.
p.s. if the template is outdated, just use it as a guide and add a few sentences here and there that reflect the current situation. i canât find any recent templates so :/ at least this is something
“A Childâs View from Gaza” was an art exhibition showcasing drawings created by the children of Gaza.
“The captioned illustrations were created by Palestinian children who lived through the Israeli bombardment of Gaza in 2008-09. The pictures were drawn as part of an effort to help children deal with the horrors they had experienced. A Bay Area nonprofit, Middle East Childrenâs Alliance (MECA), arranged to display a collection of these pictures at the Museum of Childrenâs Art in Oakland, California. However, under pressure from the Jewish Federation of the East Bay and other organizations, the museum backed out of the agreement at the last minute.”
What’s new(ish) in the settler-colonial state of the US is that a series of bills have been passed in the House (the Baby Senate as I like to say) and are on their way to the Senate that make it harder to voice support for Palestinians while also making sure your direct taxes aid the genocide in Gaza.
These bills affirm the US’s stance on the settler-colonial Zionist Entity and the implicit ties that the government has with Israel and really â just goes to show you how Israel is just one big base for American Imperialism.
Anyways, there’s still time to call your senate and tell them that you don’t want these bills that only further spiral the US into fascism so even if you think it might not do much â it’s important that we document our dissent in official sources. And while you’re at it â call your congressperson and tell them that if they voted for this you’re not voting for them next election. If they voted against the bills, still call your congresspeople and tell them you support their decision to vote against these bills.
Here are the bills:
đResolution: HR 6126
Resolution Name: Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act Description: Gives $14.3 Billion To Israel From The IRS (Taxes You Pay). Like straight up. Just takes it from an IRS project, which used our tax dollars to begin with, to give to Israel “defense.” Link to check summary:https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr6126
Resolution Name: “Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act” Description: They will be examining Palestinian education materials to see if it promotes “hate” or “violence” (aka are they teaching their children to become murderers??). Will inevitably require Revision Of Text Books In Palestinian Schools To Portray The Occupation In A Positive Light. Link to summary:https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr3266
đResolution: HR 340
Resolution Name: “The Hamas International Financing Prevent Action” Description: Claims to stop financial support for “terrorist” organizations but considering that Gaza’s government is run by Hamas, then this would mean Gaza will receive absolutely no aid and donating to people in Gaza could get you in legal trouble. Link to summary:https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr340
There’s a button for most of these bills that allows you to contact your representative directly. Please do take the time to contact them â while many of this isn’t especially new to Palestinians, the difference is now that we have a larger power in numbers than we did in the past. Please make sure to advocate for you Palestinian comrades in the US whenever possible! Help us Free Palestine one step at a time!
